Default Any good garages in Chelmsford?

My Focus is currently on 67k and so is nearing a cam belt change. I rung Ford who quoted £537!!!!! for a cambelt change and water pump WTF? The whole thing is probably only worth 3k at a push!

I've been told at FFOC that if you do the cambelt, its an easier job to get the water pump done at the same time. The cambelt is £325, but that includes all pulleys, tensioners etc.

Erm, are there any garages that come recommended in and around Chelmsford?

VW wanted £800 when I asked about getting my cambelt changed.

Aye, definately get the water pump changed at the same time. As it is driven off the cambelt and it if needs to be replaced at a later date (the bearings take a bit of a hammering what with it being run off the cambelt) then the cambelt has to come off and you're left with a big labour bill for a £30 part.

Rung the fools up again its £240 for the cambelt change and £30 inc fitting for the waterpump. Thats much more reasonable He had previously charged me for a diesel cambelt and then complete labour ontop with the water pump earlier.

That sounds more like it! In the end I paid £400 for cambelt, waterpump and service (glow plugs, filters and all the usual crap) which I was pretty damn pleased by.

Try Shaun Millbank 01245 422592 or 07850 815062

He fited a new clutch to my 4x4 this year and was a touch over half the price of the other quotes I had. And he picked it up and delivered it home. And...er...pay cash (I didnt, well I did but I didnt think to tell him I was so he already did an invoice, the price was that cheap before any little discounts )
