Default Freecell game #12006

It's rare that I'll come across a game of Freecell that takes me more than a couple of goes; if I can't do it first time I'll almost always spot my mistake and do it straight off next go. This one however, I randomly selected yesterday lunchtime and it stumped me about ten times in a row. I came back to it today and had another three or so goes (the last couple being almost identical save for a couple of moves) and have now finally beaten it.

If there's anyone that is so inclined, give it a go and let me know how you get on. The amount of times I was just one space short was frankly infuriating. I've never known a game of Freecell to have so many dead ends.

I fully expect someone to do it first go now though.

Are all freecell games DEFINITELY solveable? I thought they were random and some could be done some couldn't?

There is only one (in Windows) that has been proved to be impossible but I don't know its exact number. The 32,000 or so that Windows XP has aren't random they're the same on every computer. There are far more than 32,000 permutations though I'd imagine.

Does yours start with the 4 of hearts then the 5 of hearts and 9 of clubs? I'm giving it a go now.

There's actually an article about this in this month's PC Pro magazine which dropped onto my desk today.

Only #11,982 isn't possible.

The exact bit says
Quote:
They discovered that only one deal out of the 8 billion-plus possible doesn't come out, which means that whenever you lose a game it's because you didn't play it right (unless it was the impossible one, deal 11,982) not because of the lay of the cards

Without wanting to sound show-offy, I was in the middle of other bits of work so it took me more like 10 mins really.
