Superman returns
I'm not known for my descriptive prose, so bear with me.
Well I went and saw Superman returns last night. The whole experience was a let down if I am honest. Kate Bosworth attempts to be Lois Lane, but she lacks the cutting whit of the Lois of old. Best example I can give of this is when she doesn't want to cover a story and is arguing with Perry:- You are doing X story Lois:- No, the real story is Y Perry:- You are doing X Lois:- No Perry:- Yes you are Lois:- (gives in) Thanks chief Lois wanders outside and then whines to get someone else to have a word with the chief for her. This sums it up really, she lacks in the cutting edge and just isn't that convincing in her role. I think it’s partly due to her being too young for the role, she's 23. Brandon Routh (Superman) tries in his role, but he never seems totally at ease.... I haven't put my finger on it yet. Kevin Spacey is a brilliant Lex though, a really good casting in the role. He outshines the rest of the cast with ease. Though I have slated two of the lead stars, if you put your brain in neutral then it’s not too bad. Having seen the previous films, I was expecting something on par with them and the film disappoints. There is an overuse of CGI, especially when he is flying. The film does drag and I feel that its about 20-25mins too long, towards the end I had gotten bored and wanted it to end. If you can forget the old films and just treat it as a film in its own right, then it’s not so bad. |

Well I won't be rushing out to see it from what I've heard. Maybe I'll acquire it by other means later on.

I've already seen the first half and it certainly wasn't anything to write home about. I'll probably get round to watching the second half at a later date, glad I didn't pay to go see it.

TBH, pretty much all of the films I've seen over the last year have not really been worth the outlay. At approx £6.80 a ticket and then some rip-off drinks or food, you've spent £20 for a couple, it's really not worth it.
If the films were really great then it might be worth it but most of the films we've seen have been mediocre at best.

Yeah I agree with you, there aren't that many films that have had me wanting to to the pictures to see. As I have a source for all the films coming out I tend not to venture to the pictures too often and as you say it's cost it can be so expensive.
Generally we're working our way through TV series at the moment, we've finished 24 now onto The West Wing

I agree with both of you. I vary rarely bother going to the cinema now and just acquire the films.... seeing as a few of us were going I tagged along. Unless something really good comes along, I won't be heading out again for a while.
