Default Game buys Gamestation

http://www.britishgaming.co.uk/?p=1971

The only thing I use either of them for is trade-in's, so long as they dont stop, who cares

Just read this too. I often found great deals in Gamestation different to Game. Now there's no high street competition. I'll have 4 Game's in Liverpool. 4!

Like Daz, as long as they keep doing the good prices on trade-ins then I'll be happy enough. Next time I go in I'll speak to the staff there and see what they say. There's always Computer Exchange to use for trade-ins, but they generally don't get new games in on release and I'm often very impatient for new games

Quote from that Blog (which amazingly the council haven't blocked yet. Give them 30 seconds though).....

Quote:
The two brands will be kept separate within the newly-expanded business as GAME looks to increase its appeal to the mainstream consumer, with Gamestation very much focused on the core gamer.
If that's the case I'll be very happy. They both do good business and both make profits, so I suppose all Game will do is bring their extra experience to the table and maybe provide stock at cheaper prices, enabling the Gamestation chain to generate even more profit.

I hope that's the case but I can't help but feel a bit sad about it.
Personally I've had nothing but crap experiences in Game so I'd hate to see the same happen with Gamestation. Hopefully it won't though.
If I have 2 game stores in Swansea that treat me like a moron because I'm a girl and with my Mum, I'll be buying online from then onwards

Well thats pretty much killed the competition on the high street. There used to be EB/Game/Gamestation, then there was Game/Gamestation... now there is Game. This is ignoring people like Woolworths.

In terms of competing gaming stores there just isn't any now. The problem is that I buy all my games off the net, as does a growing number now.

I have to agree with everything said here I always used Gamestation as Game was rubbish for prices, just hope things stay as they are

Never really bought much from either. I tend to get most of my games from HMV (mostly because I have a games reward card from them).

Yea I find HMV to be one of the best places, often newly released games are £37, that combined with my games reward card and 10% student discount.

Failing that shopto.net is always good
