Default wireless Router question. Not for the faint hearted!

Guys, does the Draytek Vigor 2800g support a VPN server. I see it can act as a concentrator, but I don't want to have to buy a 2910G to find out the cheaper 2800 can do what I want.

I still want to set up my own VPN server, whether that be a windows VPN box or on the router itself.

I thought Concentrator was just a product name Cisco used, not an actual VPN term :/

The 2800 will terminate end points yes, be they LAN to LAN or single clients. As does the 2910 series.

Coolio, there are a couple on flebay I am looking at. It seems the 2600 can also do this, but I can't find any references to Wep2, which I would like to have.

Im right in thinking either you or Mark have a 2800 don't you?

I have a 2910 myself, and we use a mixture of 2800's and 2910's at work (depending on the WAN service). In fact there are several of each in a room down the corridor

Dont buy the 2600, your DSL speed will likely suffer, and I don't believe the product is supported any more. Well, certainly not being actively developed anyway.

Several of each? Unused?

Do you accept beer tokens?

Bummer! I've found a 2910VG for 166 quid (can't find the pound key on a dutch keyboard) Is that a good price for one?

Wheres cheapest usually?

Be aware that the 2800 includes an ADSL/2/2+ modem, whereas the 2910 does not. Also, the letters after the number (e.g. 2800VG) indicate additional features, so make sure you're comparing like with like.

With the 2600 your DSL speed will definitely suffer. These can sync at DSL Max speeds but can only handle throughput of around 2.5 Mbps. Also, the 2600 doesn't support WPA2.

PS - I have a spare 2600 as I upgraded for this very reason.

PPS - Retail for the 2910VG is £188+VAT.

Good job you told me, I missed the fact there is no modem involved
That would have been a cock up of monumental proportions!

Okies, so a 2800G, maybe a V if I can find one cheap enough!

If you have a phone line (which you must do on DSL), you wont use the V, dont worry about it too much.
