Default Moelle de rôtis sur un lit de riz (apparantly)

So I told Jarp what I was gonna cook for dinner...

He decided to tell me what it was in french, well, what he thought it was in French...

If it'd been Will, or Kebab, or Fay, then that'd make sense (well Fay would've just gone "FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!" )

So anyway, I digress...

This evening I have been preparing stuffed marrow on a bed of rice.

It's easy

Get a marrow from the shop...

Cut it into pieces and core it...

Stuff it with savoury mince...

Then dump it in the oven and post piccies of what you've done on t'interweb

In the next episode, what it looked like when it came out of the oven, how well I removed it from the dish and how it looks on the bed of rice

It came out of the oven looking like...

Went onto the plates (along with bed of rice) looking like...

And got this expression from Jarp :/

I was actually really pleased with it, everything was cooked (although some of the mince a little too much) and considering I've never cooked it and not eaten it since some time around 1990 then it made my tummy feel good

Next time gonna try varying the mince and covering it for 20mins or so when I cook it... Possibly introduce a ratatoille accompaniament as well...

As Rich says, it 'twas good. Only minor criticism, which he raised himself anyway, was that the mince was a little done in places. The cause of that was the marrow which took a lot longer to cook than I think he realised, but given its been 15+ years since he last had it / saw it cooked, I've got absolutely no complaints. Look forward to having it again

Looks good! My mum makes something similar with chilli con carne inside. I could have sworn she left the skin on the marrow as well, maybe that's why I turned out like I did.

I always remember it without the skin, but might give it a go with the skin intact next time

Turned out like what? A look a-like Bruce Willis?

*manically starts feeding Picky marrow with skin*

I don't think I've ever eaten marrow (well not consciously... may be in casseroles and things!)! Looks like I have a recipe for one when I do get round to munching it! Yuuuurmmmy yum yum!

Haven't eaten marrow since I was at school. Can't say I was overly taken by it when I did but that could be typical school dinner effect.

Definately.. badly prepared Marrow can taste slimy and horrible. Proper Marrow is lovely, though it doesn't have much actual taste.

Damn that looks good! My first venture into this part of the forum and I confess I was kinda drawn in by the familiar sounding thread title, but this is one I'm trying

Did you do anything with the rice, or left it plain?

It was plain rice, boiled in a pan (not a bag)
