Default WWF Wrestler Chris Benoit and family found dead

Bizarre and very sad news that doesn't appear to be a part of the WWF storyline

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2916498

Lots on Google etc. Looks like he might have killed his wife and son and then committed suicide himself.

Read about this and have been reading about this all morning. I didn't know if anyone else on here would be interested which is why I didn't post.

It isn't part of the story line - Benoit was one of those who didn't want his family involved in the "shows".

He was an excellent wrestler and a brilliant character. He was one of my favourites to watch be it in matches or in interviews.

There have been several stories floating around but unfortunately it seems the murder/suicide one is the most prevalent.

Such a shame and a loss esp considering how close a friend he was to Eddie Guerrero and the Guerrero family

(And its WWE now)

Found this which seems to be as much of a time line as can be worked out from what has been released.

Just heard about this. I hope they're wrong about the circumstances, he never seemed like the type of guy who'd murder his wife and child. He was a top wrestler and always seemed like one of the good guys in the business.

I hope they are wrong about the circumstances too and agree he always seemed like a great guy, but tbh in most cases we only see what they want us to see - it is after all entertainment - who knows what was going on in his home/private life

I really do hope they're wrong about this.. he has always been a nice guy, both in character and out of character.

Man that is so sad and weird at the same time. I was never really into wrestling, but his name was one of the greats that sticks out.

RIP

It's beena few years since I last watched WWE (it was still WWF when I stopped). Chris was up there with the best and had some great moments. I feel it's too early to tell what happened, assuming we do find out.

In a case of straight murder I would probably be inclined to agree but murder suicides tend to be carried out by people with a very different mindset, they aren't about anger insomuch as about depression and sadness, people who don't feel they can personally go on living life often feel they are doing they partners/ families a favour by releasing them from life at the same time they take their own. You often see stories about mothers taking their kids with them when they commit suicide, when the world looks like it has nothing in it but sadness then its hard to see how your family will be able to go on living.

Seems to me if the cops aren't looking for anyone else its a pretty open and shut case of family suicide the only question in my mind would be was it a joint decision/ pact or not.

Confirmed by the major US networks now that he appears to of strangled his wife, smothered his kid and then hanged himself.

Nasty story, an awful shame for all involved. Especially his children from another relationship.
