Default Is it naughty to get somebody to bid for your item on ebay?

Hi all

Chucked up an old hub on ebay with no reserve. It's down to less than two hours and now somebody has bid 99p. I know I should have put a higher starting price but I thought it might generate a bit more interest.

What happens if somebody I know bids on it to bump the price. If they then win it, can I just cancel it all and pretend it was sorted off line?

I don't mind the hub going for a little amount, but 99p seems a waste of time really :/

Still, lesson learnt and all that.

It is naughty but I have done it in the past mainly to end an auction so I can relist it rather than to boost the price. I've used my Mum's ID to do it and then just relisted it a few days later.

As Haly says it's naughty but not very traceable - you'll just pay a small amount as if the item had actually been won.

Having said that, I might just let him have it and learn from it. Not sure I can be bothered to muck around.

Up to you really I've not done it in years mostly out of laziness or honesty......I think it's laziness though

Heck! I'd buy that for 99p!

Can I collect it at the next beer festival?

Yes mate, bid away and you can save on the postage

Seriously, if you want to bid then go for it. Of course, I'd not take any money of you. It's yours for nothing

It's a bit higher now - I find that bidding very often happens in the last 10 minutes. You've got a sale there.
