Advice from monitor boffs please!
I've been offered a second hand LG Flatron L1915S by someone at work, which would be a welcome upgrade from my current 17" that has a sporadic bold line of colour down one side of the LCD.
I've set it up at work and it appears to be in good condition, no dead pixels, but a couple of tiny marks near the centre of the screen that show up on white backgrounds (e.g. Word documents). What would be a respectable price for this? No prices have been mentioned yet but I was maybe considering an offer of £50-£60. Does this sound about right? As with most of us, I want to offer a sensible price but not get ripped off. Cheers!

Totally down to how many hours it has been On for mate.
If used constantly for 15 hours a day for a year then just a few beer tokens, but if an average 6 -12 months usage then 50 quid would be fair. |

Hmm, that's a good question to ask. I'll try and find out. Thanks Pik... *double take!*

Ah, that sounds like a refresh issue. I had the same thing for a while on my 19" and nearly binned it. Just check that windows hasn't upped the tft refresh rate to over 60Hz.

There might be a setting on the monitor to show the current run time. I know there is on my one.

Apparently it has been used a couple of hours a day solidly for about five months, mainly with word processing, email and Quark. On eBay they're going for around £70 so I thought £50 was fair and we have struck a deal. Thanks for the advice.
Zirax, which bit were you saying might be the refresh issue?

The sporadic line of colour down the monitor on a tft can be that the refresh speed is wrong. It should be set at 60Hz, any faster and it can cause odd effects. That drove me nuts for ages until I discovered it.

I thought that TFT defaulted to 60MHz.. could that line be becuase of a dodgy cable or connection?
Speaking of which, pop into Tescos at the mo.. they're flogging all there TFTs off.. I just bought an Acer 19" WS for £80 from Tescos Home.. don't care about the specs as it's for my workshop.
