Default Utterly ******* dumb work policies

It recently became policy for all people working in "sales" to be given a Blackberry bearing in mind that 50% of these people never work outside the office.

I asked my boss if I could get one as I spend 70% of my time travelling outside the UK and spend ~£70/month on internet access just to collect e-mails many of which are time critical. Received an e-mail this morning from the powers that be stating that I do not need a Blackberry as I do not work in sales Just how utterly dumb are these people?

Nearly as good as Camden's smoking policy...

Second points claims that provisions will be made for any employees who still wish to smoke...

Then later in the policy states that personnel may not smoke on any council premises, on the pavement outside any council premises (remember, this includes housing estates) or in view of the public...

Hmmm

So where can anyone smoke? Behind the bike sheds (which have been removed to prevent anti-social behaviour)?

Dead impressed by that I was

Same here... I have to book a lot of things for the seminars/conferences I organised... be it lights/food/furniture etc etc... usually needing payment on the day or asap and the Directors have refused two applications of mine for a Company Credit Card.

I wouldn't mind if they paid me more money then I would have no problem paying for it all myself and claiming back on expenses.

Grrr!!!

I agree its stupid, but just to save you about £60 a month get Web'n'Walk (or W'n'W Plus if you're feeling especially flush). Thats not actually the solution really, but its better than nothing!

A lot of the apps on the blueberry use java - well the ones I've used have anyway.

I'm glad that I never had a bb when I was doing the traveling job, or any job, it means you can never escape from work and your peers/superiors know this... no thanks!
