Default Stupid helpdesk....

So I get a call this morning and it says:

'There is a Loose cable looks like a monitor lead keeps coming on users way.'

Huh? So I pass it back hoping they can re-group, screw their head on and make a little bit more sense next time. So I then get:

'The cable that goes from the mains to the monitor is very long and therefore comes on the foot of the user.'

Aside from the ridiculous update, I still don't know what I'm being asked to do! I swear, I don't know how these people dress themselves in the morning....

Cable is dangling around the lusers tootsies and they keep kicking it. They want you to tidy it. Simple.

I figured that, I'm still going to let it sit in the queue until Christmas.

Good call, then if they chase it just say that when they can explain in English that you'll do it.

Don't get me started! I had an Infonet engineer who only had to install a single ADSL router this morning. There were lots of English words, its just he couldn't get them into any order to make sense.

He wanted the administrator password so he could manually add the DNS entries on each computer... I pointed out that this should be done in DHCP by the router, he was Huh?!? I could sense the confusion over the phone.

Two housr later he calls me back to explain that nothing is working and he didn't know what to do, despite me saying use port 24 on the switch and him saying "ok" he managed to plug the router into port 12

After explaining that the ports were locked down, he went away 30 minutes later, but only after I had sucessfully banged my head through a partition wall.

He rang me an hour (15:00) ago to explain that it still wasn't working and that he had put the old router back in, I asked him if there was an adsl light on the old router and I'm told no there isn't because "the telephone is plugged to the router back" and "the router is plugged to the router back also"

Unfortunately, my understanding of the language numpty isn't the best, so I have to assume he has plugged the telephone lead into the adsl port on the router that he can't configure and plugged a patch lead between the routers. I had to explain to him how to set it back up again so the users were able to get back on the internet and to leave the router in the box by the side of the cabinet for the next time I am down there.

*SIGH*

/me cries
