Vista is killing me :(
The network transfer bug has just hit me badly, i'm transfering 20gb and i've hit the all time low of < 50kb/s. Apparently it could take 1000's of days to finish =/.
I personally can't wait until i get my my mits on SP1 |

Are you running other stuff?
I find if the CPU is loaded, all file transfers (local and network) slow down. Give it an idle CPU though and it's not quite so bad. |

I've got Opera open casually browsing the internet, and thats really it... The XP box feeding my Vista laptop is downloading a horrendous amount of windows updates, but that wouldn't do much would it?
My bluetooth mouse is lagging silly as well now i'm using wireless (i was tethered, but becuase of the bug its actually no quicker so why bother sitting next to the server?) |

If you've got any media playing, stop it.
I'd not be installing a beta service pack.

Nope, not music or video playing on either 'puter. Even though its saying its moving at 10kb/s and its going to take "35xxx"days, i seem to be chugging through data much quicker than than... Vista is a strange beast...
I just hope to god its copying properly. |

I'd never install a beta service pack - unless you're virtualising of course when it's OK to do such things.

I'll probably leave the service pack, if i installed it i'd have to restart and no doubt lose what i was copying in the first place or something daft.

Interesting opinion on Vista SP1:
http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=6070 Meant to post it before actually. This is hardcore: Quote:
The fact it cant be applied to offline images is also interesting. It suggests it's a massive overhaul - more so even that XP SP2,
