My living room
So excited I'm posting this thread here!
Finally having my living room floor done after years of living with holes! The woodworm The holes - note how the kids have pushed rubbish into the holes. I swear I can see a pair of socks down there on this pic. Rowan just said 'I think there's an Indian burial ground under there.' Kai replied 'There's definitely a banana burial ground down there.' Bloody kids. My foot next to holes so you can see the scale. There is another hole up the other end of the room but it is smaller. I do like the yellow colour but fancy a change. The colour I've chosen is a lot darker but hey, it's only paint, if I don't like it I can always paint it again. I'm going for the colour on the left. It's a misty kind of violet. Beck calls it 'grurple' because it's not grey and it's not purple. Don't know if I mentioned this but earlier this year I was walking past a house and saw they'd ripped out their old doors and left them in the garden. To cut a long story short I bought 3 doors off them for £10 each. This is my old living room door. And this is what the doors looked like when I bought them. I ripped the boarding off them and stripped some of the paint off to see what I have. We think it's pitched pine (they're incredibly heavy and dense) and are checking with the carpenter tuesday. I've found somewhere local to strip them for £15 a door so they'll be off there once the floor is done. At some point in the house's history someone ripped out the picture rail. So I'm putting one back. You can see the uneven texture where the 2 colours meet - this is where my rail is going. It will divide the two colours I'm doing nicely. I'm also putting up a ceiling rose as the house would have had one originally and changing the light fitting.
