Adolescent peer pressure
My daughter was going into town with her friends on Saturday, who have become some what of a liability. Apparently, they were planning on shop lifting for make-up and asked Leanne along. We couldn't understand why all of a sudden she didn't go and was keeping very quiet about the whole thing. We found out last night that two of the girls were caught and were subsequently taken down the police station.
Last night she said she knew and choose not to be part of it. I'm really pleased that she had the sense not be tempted by adolescent peer pressure. I don't give her enough credit where it's due and I know I should do. I might buy her an album later. One very happy dad here I did a lot of things when I was younger but I never stole or took drugs.. I was just trouble. I don't remember being put under any peer pressure then but it was a long time ago now.

Good plan
I was always a "sensible" kid and while did have a go at shoplifting it wasn't fun or interesting to me, then dad got ill and I had to start acting like an adult - collecting money, paying bills, doing the shopping, learning how to change dressings etc. That kinda thing puts curb to any wayward ideas pretty quickly. |

When we get Juvie shoplifters in, if they're remorseful and or scared the Custody Sgt usually doesn't put them in a Detention Room (Juvenile cell) he leaves them in a side room with Mum or Dad. After they've been dealt with (usually bailed off to Restorative Justice), I give them the $5 tour of the cell block to show them how crap and nasty they are. 99 times out of a hundred they swear they're never coming back.
