Petition for a new bank holiday
Pretty much as title...
There's a petition here to create a new bank holiday on the second Monday of November as part of rememberance day.

I can see and understand the idea behind doing this, but I don't think it's necessary.

Please rearrange the following four words: happen going to not
Lost count of how many requests there have been been for public holidays at various dates throughout the year. Not that I'd complain if it happened. Dec-May there's currently about seven days, June-Nov there's one. |

I like this idea as I am always missing the local remembrance day events, which I really would love to be part of.
So yeh. Signed it. |

I never miss Remembrance Sunday, and if the 11/11 lands during a day, I'd hope that most company's would observe a minutes silence (where feasible). Taking a whole day off for it is excessive. The idea is honourable, but it will be done for the wrong reasons.

Yes please
A Bank holiday then would be great, the stretch from August to Christmas is miserable enough as the weather gets worse and summer disappears, at least a bank holiday might provide a bit of cheer Although actually having read the thread I don't think Remebrance day should be a bank holiday but should be the 2nd sunday as always, but there should be a bank holiday around then regardless, maybe last week of October or 1st November or thereabouts.

That's the way I see it. Using something like that as an excuse is a bit pathetic.

Fair enough to those who were on the phones at the time, although imo the customers shouldn't have been phoning during that minute anyhow, but my entire team at work were just sitting there chatting away about their Saturday night instead. Such a lack of respect imo.
