Default Lilly Allen - Alright, Still

I've tried and I've tried and I've tried to hate this album but I just can't

I'm not entirely sure why I obtained it in the first place but god damn its catchy and I find it on my play list quite regularly.

I think I initially was prejudiced against her for some reason, I suspect I thought she was a advocate of the 'chav lifestyle' but her lyrics are actually more of an cynical insight into the negative side of UK youth culture and pretty amusing.

Hmmmm, not sure where this thread is going apart from to say if you haven't heard the album or your only experience is seeing 'Alfie' on MTV then try and put that out of your head and give the album a try, its got a some cool musical stylings and is pretty accessible, Allen's voice maybe a little 'mockney' for some and her range isn't the appeal as much as the observational lyrics.

MB Score 7/10, recommended

I initially wasn't overly keen but my Mum loved it so I bought it for her, listened to it a few times and ended up liking it
It's very catchy and makes a nice change

I got her album when I heard about her on the radio last year - I really like it

It's a regular in the Faysh-mobile. And the kids like it too.

It's not bad at all, I think I've heard it a bit too much or at least some of the tracks have been overplayed but definitely one of the better albums of 2007. Friday Night or LDN are the standout tracks for me although her cover of Naive by The Kooks (not actually on the album) is pretty good.

Small P.S. her name is Lily with one L.

I've tried to listen to this album but I always invariably give up half way through the first track. The producer needs shooting, it sounds like it's flat-topping and distorting badly and I can't forgive that.

/edit - I shall try again, skipping track 1 to see if it's any betterer.

I have to agree with Feekles here.

Just had a listen and the levelling is awful

I've heard quite a few of the tracks on the radio and they sounded fine, which confuses me when it comes to listening to the album.

'Knock 'em out' was the only track which didn't have this problem so no idea what happened to the other ones...

I really like this album too :-) Didnt think I would but it was played on repeat a few times.

A recent unexpected like album is Adele's. Chasing Pavements is abit boring and overplayed but she has such a great voice it makes a good album! I still find her speaking voice unstandable though

There's a girl here at work that looks just like her - I've renamed her Lilly
