Default Tempted to have another crack at Ubuntu

Well seen as though i've got my fancy new HDD with a good 800gb free and then just read about the latest release of Ubuntu I thought i might give it another go.
I tried the last release but it didn't quite 'work' like i expected it all would. But i get bored easy and think i'll give this new one a go (maybe on vmware first) but again, i don't know which version is best.

Which one is everyone using? i know theres a fair few users, but are you all just running standard ubuntu?

I use the standard Ubuntu. Was running 7.10 up until the final release of 8.40 the other week. Fully upgraded now and whizzing along

If you want to use Windows apps, use Windows If you really want to try Linux, then spend some time looking at equivalent programs. There's so much out there you'll find something you like no problems.

I tried Wine with one but didn't like it much. If I really need to use Windows (which I now use to run InDesign so I can work from home) I run XP in a VirtualBox and it runs flawlessly.
