The Verve
Saw them lastnight on BBC3, absolutely awesome as ever
I saw them live in 1997 when they were opening for Oasis at Earl's Court. I was the envy of the sixth form! lol. I dont know if I'd perhaps want to see them live again, for me that era is over. I still love the music. I know Mark would kill to see them live, so maybe I'll give it a go Listening to them lastnight brought back memories of being 17, sat in a quiet pub drinking pints of Guiness with my mates. Those were the days. Out every other night, ending up at a goth club listening to pure 80's cheese twice a week, spending the other nights out being all grown up and out with the older lads. :can almost hear the hovis tune:

I only saw them once at V98 but it was awesome. Lucky Man is still one of my favourite tunes to play on the guitar.
I don't know what they were thinking with the new song though - how it got made with that atrocious 'aha-aha-aha' noise playing in the background every fourth bar is beyond me. Did the band, producers and sound editors listen to the finished track and just think 'we need something to ruin this', and so someone recorded themselves gargling in a cave?

Saw them a few weeks ago at T, awesome. Love their new single. They really are superb, and had the crowd going perfect too
Conversely i nearly died listening to Rage, but enjoyed that just as much too (if not more). |

I really like the Verve's music, but unfortunately I don't like Ashcroft's particular vocal sound Awkward sod, that's me!
