Chilli Con Carne
Inspired by Tak and SINC, I've cooked probably the first thing I've ever done from ingrediants (no stir in sauces).
This is how it was done 300G beef mince 1 chopped onion 1 tin of chopped tomatoes 1 small tin of kidney beans Good few shakes of hot chilli powder couple of teaspoonfulls of crushed chillis couple of teaspoonfulls of bisto to thicken. Not the most advanced thing in the world compared with some here, but we'll see how it turns out! This is it so far |

I've heard that before but my parents never did and I've always nommed theirs. If it's a case of lob that lot in a pan then even I might give it a go. Would also be my first (save things like bread which don't count due to using a breadmaker).

Here's my recipe ( to serve 6 hungry centre parcers ! ) Olive oil 1 large Onion diced Mixed herbs Worcestershire sauce 2 cloves garlic 1KG Mince 4x beef oxo 2x veg oxo 2 tins chopped toms 2 tins kidney beans 3x peppers 2 tbs tom puree 2 tsps chilli powder 2 tsps hot chocolate powder salt & pepper to season Cook the diced onion in the olive oil, add the garlic, mixed herbs and worcs sauce Once cooked add the minced beef and cook until browned Add the oxo cubes and cook for 2/3 mins Add the other ingredients and cook for as long as possible ! ( we usually cook for about 5 hours in the slow cooker, last week we simmered on the hob for about 3 hours ) |

Was pretty good! The texture was great and the temperature was great but it was kinda missing something. Not sure exactly how to describe it though. It wasn't bland but it wasn't quite tasty as I know they can be! |
