Springfield road gatso - warning
Well I got flashed, bottom line. Crazy thing is I was bang on 30 on the speedo, which overreads by 3mph @30. Hence to actually do 30 I need to do 33mph.
Everyone knows where it is really as its bloody obvious. I should be fine but just to warn people that its currently a tad twitchy. |

I don't suppose you noticed but was there someone going the other way at the same time?
You should be OK, the road markings will clarify your speed as being under.

Good point, I honestly can't remember. More than likely though due to the time of day (around 4pm). Not really worried, just more confused as to what would have set it off?
Tell you what's worse..... I don't even speed on motorways any more. Doing a 200mile commute and having to scan every bridge, layby etc just isn't worth it |

As Feek says, more than likely someone going the other way has set it off. I've done it myself and set one off whilst driving towards it.

There is one I used to drive past regularly in Eastbourne that fired whenever anyone went past driving at the speed limit. I got flashed innumerable times by it, just seemed to be the way they wanted it set. One thing is for sure, most people did 30mph along that road for sure, even though it was wide and straight.

There's a Gatso on the way home from work, just after a dual carriageway fast bit of road. I noticed it was 'missing' last week, someone's taken an angle grinder to it.
Not that I would condone such actions

One very prominent Gatso near me on a bit of dual carriageway in town with a speed limit of 40mph was recently incorrectly set, I would guess to 30mph.
As you drove past in the opposite direction, you could see drivers passing it doing less than 40 stand on their brakes when it flashed them. I would be amazed if it didn't cause some accidents before it was eventually fixed - absolute lunacy!

My brother got flashed doing 40mph in a 30 zone once - got his letter through the post and sent off his bits & bobs in the mail.
Several weeks later he recieves a court summons stating as he didn't reply he was now eligible for court fees and an increased fine (or something along those lines). He was fuming, but being a clever boy, he had proof of posting etc which he took with him to the court. After arguing that his return did indeed get sent off and the court information found it was indeed recieved in good time, he asked for court fees to be dismissed as it was fault on part of the court admin and not his own. After being asked to leave the room for 5 minutes he was called back in and informed that not only were the fees being dismissed but the points and fine also dropped! Result! Now the icing on the cake indeed came in the post a short while later- The standard letter including the photo of the speeding incident arrived on my bro's doorstep. The contents certainly say alot for the admin people at the speeding department as the photograph shows not only my brother travelling 10mph over the speed limit, but mobile phone in hand and a sandwich in the other! *: yes he knows it is a ridiculous thing to do and doesn't drive in dangerous manners anymore so please no little angreh rantings!

This is why living in Fife is great!
A & B roads all over the place with hardly a soul in sight. And not a single fixed camera or traffic light camera (not that I recommend jumping reds )
