Not very good

I like Starwars games but this one feels a but linear and the boss battles are a bit sucky, although it looks good and some of the force powers are well done the special moves are too mucj like a fighting game for my liking with some of them being nigh on impossible to string together, I just find myself mashhing buttons

Anyone else got it?

Yup, and I disagree with you, as I'm really enjoying it so far. Cut n paste from my blog post about it....

I’m 5 levels in with 4 to go and it’s been very enjoyable so far. You start off with a teaser level as Darth Vader, giving you full access to force powers so you know how much fun it can be. Then you start as the Apprentice and your powers are drip fed to you as you advance through the levels. If you combine this with achievement hunting, it can make for quite varied gameplay as you try to get 100 and 500 kills with each of your powers, so you don’t rely on any one of them (though Force Grip is easily the mostfun, picking up people and throwing them through windows). It’s been slightly slow going through it so far as I’m using a guide to make sure I don’t miss any Jedi Holocrons as I’d like to get the achievement at the first time of asking, so I can just try and blast through it on a harder difficulty next time.

Regarding your point about the special moves, I've had no problems with them, but I'm very used to things like that from Ninja Gaiden games so that's no real surprise. My only gripe so far is that the quick time events which are used to finish off bosses actually cause you to concentrate on the button presses so much that you miss the cool things the Apprentice is actually diong to his opponent. Linear gaming is also fine with me as I've got more than enough open world games, so a little linear gaming is ok as everything is nice and straightforward.

I thought it was pretty poor, im about level 4, nice graphics, but very repetitive and generic.

I know your a big fan of the NG games Davey so you liking it does make a lot of sense.

Linear is OK but I'm just not feeling any sense of excitment with this game, the best bit so far has been storming the Slingshot on Kashyyk which at least had a bit of a challenge to it, I suspect I only have a couple of levels left and that in itself is disapointing as I've only played the game for a few hours on the normal level of dificaulty, I'm not a gamerpoints junky so I can't really see me playing it through again to get the achievements. I agree with you on the finshing moves button presses it ruins the attached cut scenes

This one is definately going to get traded.

Oh, this is definitely getting traded (towards Fifa 09 on Friday), but mainly because it should still have a nice high trade in value still. I can see me renting it again in the future to try and finish off the achievements.

I wouldn't count on that Davey, I saw an advert in the local gamestation window and you got band of brothers: hell's highway for £15 when trading in starwars which means you get £20 at most

I've just finished it for the second time. First time I did it on normal difficulty and found it a ridiculously hard learning curve. Got to the end of the junkyard level and it took me a very long time to kill the boss. As I got used to the moves though, and stopped just whacking buttons it got a little easier. The second playthrough I did it on easy and it felt far more like I was a Jedi. I wasn't just getting beaten down by laser fire all the time and felt I could deal with multiple opponents much better. OK, so it really does make it easy, but it's far more realistic in terms of what we know from the Star Wars universe.

It's not without fault - more than a few times it suffers from 'Streetfighter II Corner Beatdown', where those large Stormtroopers trap you and just knock you down repeatedly and you're unable to respond. This also happens when fighting AT-STs and Rancors; "Oh, they stomped the ground and I fell. Best get up.... not yet.... OK, dust myself down and..." *STOMP*. That can get tedious. I'd also like to be able to move when I throw my lightsaber, as in Jedi Academy.

Also, I've completed all the training courses, except one. I can't for the life of me kill the seven Stormtroopers with a lightsaber flurry. I can barely kill one before it suspends, telling me I've used a standard lightsaber attack. My TV got the finger numerous times whenever that message appears.

The story though, is awesome. Fits really nicely into the saga.

Computer Exchange are currently offering £30 trade in for it, and Gamestation have a price match promise which I'll be testing out. I've got 2 other games to take back as well so I don't expect to pay anything for Fifa with 3 games going towards it
