Default Complaints, Compliments and general feedback

As the female version of Victor Meldrew if there is something to complain about I generally do... so far this year, complaining has earnt me back £100 of DeVere hotel vouchers, £6 of Unilever discounts and other random discounts... along the way.

In a world where we tell 3 people good news and 12 people bad news, what are your feedback experiences?

Here is my latest - a compliment (and yes a dig at some free food but didn't work ):

Dear M,

Thank you for your e-mail of compliment with regard to your visit to one of our restaurants.

I have forwarded your e-mail to both the Area Manager and staff at the restaurant. Thank you for taking the time and effort to write to us.

In an age where it is very easy to receive complaints, compliments are a particular pleasure.

Once again, thank you for your comments.

Yours sincerely,

Erena, Operations Support

Good deed for the day! Anyone else given/received feedback recently?

I complained to whoever makes nik naks, cos i opened my packet, and they were all stuck together in one giant mutatnt nik nak.

and the shop was shut.

I wrote a joking email of concern about the mutant nik nak making it impossible for me to have my nik naks, and they apologised and sent me a £5 voucher

\o/ success!

Funny... there was a time when I thought emails were just ignored, but in recent times this has definitely changed.

Only time I've complained about anything in recent memory was to Hartleys after my pot of jelly had mould on top of it

£3 of vouchers, Angel Delight and Ambrosia Custard \0/

As you know I went a bit ape at Tescos for billing me twice for Guitar hero 3 with the guitar and basically ended up getting it for a tenner Wooo!

Thing is... when I complain I tend to be fairly nice about it (I don't like shouting at people - when I do you know I R the anger ) My emails/letters of complaints tend to start off with "I hope you have yourself a cup of tea and a biccy because this is going to be a long one!" and generally contains in it somewhere "due to all of this hassle I have consumed around five gin and tonics to try and stay sane" Always gets a really good response

I recently told customer services that their cashier was ace ace ace and deserves a rise too

I never ever complain in a restuarant though (unless I don't actually want to eat my meal and leave). I've seen what some people can do to your food and would rather eat frozen peas then send it back to the chef!

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I wrote a ridiculously long letter to the people who make Frusli bars and they sent me two boxes of five for free.

I complained to Virgin Media after one of their engineers (who came to swap my modem) used the wrong power adapter. 30 mins after he left I came into the room greeted by the back of the modem giving off lots of green/grey smoke and generally on fire. They gave us free XL TV for life. I've since moved out, but I'm sure my Dad enjoys it.

Oh yeah I had a mouldy rice pudding from Marks and Spencers... they gave me the monies back but nothing else - cheapskates!

A group of us complained in a restaurant once... we got our meals almost 2 hours after we ordered... we were so PO and complained to the manager that he said 'if you leave without paying then I won't blame you or ask for the money' so we ate our food then left.

The organiser wrote a letter of complaint and got sent a bunch of flowers plus invitation to us all back for another free meal.

We were students so of course we went!
