Default Little Big Planet

OK For the PS3 fraternity who is getting Little Big Planet. All I have read is nothing but good reports and previews of Little Big Planet. Whether it will turn out to be the Killer App for PSN, remains to be seen but I am really looking forward to this.

As an aside it's a shame that all the game developers clamour for what is essentially limited shelf space at this time of the year. So many good games coming out on all platforms. Only so much game time and money

Yeah, this is one title I definitely want, I'll no doubt trade something in towards it. It's definitely one of the AAA titles released this year and alongside MGS4 the biggest exclusive on the format.

Rental is your friend I played and completed Star Wars:TFU and it only cost me a tenner, currently we're playing Lego Star Wars still on the same £10.

Can you give us some info on LBP as all I know is it is a platform game. I'm genuinely interested, don't get the fanboy thing at all

Well from what I understand it is pretty much a platform kind of game across 50 or so levels. However where the real beauty comes into is that it the game world can be as open and as varied as you want as their is a share mode where you can create your own game worlds and puzzles. Basically it's all user generated so it's limits are on the gamers imagination. Better yet, whatever is created will be available across all three gaming regions.

Three game modes: Play, Create & Share

It's a bit of an unsual step for Sony because they said they never wanted any kind of icon to be associated with PS3 or PSN but Little Big Planet could end up fitting hand in glove with PSN Home and really pushing that as a platform to compete with XBL.

I suppose the closest game at present would be Spore without the hype and the draconian DRM

Wiki Has a good overview of it

I believe you can also play cooperatively with up to 3 other players.

I actually couldn't think of a game less like LBP than spore . In spore none of the user created content had an effect on the game other than deciding what other aliens would look like. In LBP the user created content IS the game.

The beta was fantastic, it only had 3 of the developer made levels it in, but i played it for hours and never had to play the same level twice purely because of all of the user created levels. Some were just brilliantly done, one of which springs to mind was me and two other guys controlling the movement of a crane using levers in order to rebuild a broken bridge so we could cross. Another cool one was getting into a NASA space rocket and landing on the moon, then driving across it on a moon buggy.

The beauty of this game is the fact that all of the tools that media molecule (the developers) used to create the levels are available to the players too, all the levels that we make can be put online for everyone to play. The result of this could well be an almost unlimited amount of unique levels.

Would be playing it tomorrow if it hadn't been delayed till next week

Apparently Sony have again pushed the release date back, this time it's 'The 5th of November at the latest'
