As said above - I've always missed out on local events and it really makes me feel boo-er-fied... but then saying that, the major things I've missed was when I was with the police so bank hols or not I wouldn't have been able to go
As long as I can still do Sunday stuff/pay my respects then I will be happy.

IMO it's more deserved than May Day.

T'is a fair point that. No need for the extra day (though of course being a slacker I wouldn't say no), but exchanging one of the May holidays would seem a more reasonable idea to me.

Fair enough to those who were on the phones at the time, although imo the customers shouldn't have been phoning during that minute anyhow, but my entire team at work were just sitting there chatting away about their Saturday night instead. Such a lack of respect imo.

My six months at HSBC in the call centre happened around the time 9/11. There was a silence arranged and we were told that the phones would be turned off, and that we could tell our customers if we were on a call at the time that we were observing the silence and would help then in a minute, literally.

So everyone in the call centre is quiet, except from one girl who's customer was not observing the silence. Everyone could hear her call!!!

St Georges Day would make a better public holiday.

But with a birthday on the 22nd of April I would say that.
